On 4th of June 2013 we've been invited to Datacenter Dynamics Coverged 2013 conference, which was organized in Hotel Sheraton, Warsaw (Poland). Same like in previous edition in 2012 this event was one day long and full of interesting lectures. There was an exhibition available all the time, where data center related companies were presenting their products and services, too. This time, IBM was an official sponsor of the event and we (my co-worker and I) – Nordea Bank Polska S.A. – were featured speakers. Our presentation was dedicated to data center infrastructure related projects which we managed to complete between 2008 and 2013 in Nordea. Its title was: "Nordea's experience on construction, maintenance and management of data centre facilities".
Our presentation covered the following projects:
- "Old" PDC (Primary Data Center) extension - 2008
- Site adaptation for the purposes of DRC (Disaster Recovery Center), 2009-2010
- "New" PDC (Primary Data Center) construction, 2010-2012
- Other important infrastructure projects in Nordea:
- Adaptation and extension of Nordea Operation Centre (NOC), 2009-2013
- Server room construction in Nordea House Warsaw (NHW, a new HQ), 2012
We – my friend from work, Robert Gronberski (Project Manager) and I (Head of Data Centre Services Team) – had a unique opportunity to present these demanding projects, challenges we've faced, standards we've developed and lessons we've learned to share our company's experience in data center infrastructure related projects, which were collected between 2008 – 2013, with Polish industry experts. What was the most important in our presentation – we exactly knew that all these achievements would have been impossible without dedication and professionalism of our co-workers, including all colleagues from Nordea Bank Polska S.A., especially from IT departments (being the most involved), as well as our subcontractors, of course. It was a great occasion to say: "thank you" to all of them. Datacenter Dynamics Converged 2013 Warsaw was the best place we could ever imagine to express our thanks.

Furthermore, we summarized a very important part of our professional development – these projects were incredibly fascinating and really complex for all of us. We've learned that with a bunch of dedicated professionals, effectively cooperating in one team and with appropriately selected subcontractors – everything is possible!
This was a nice period of our work (2008 – 2013) and we really couldn't imagine the better moment to summarize. That's great!
